Animation Art Show ANI-Morph Workshops!

Earlier on today we hosted a series of animation workshops at The Ark, Dublin, as part of the Animation Art Show Charity Fundraiser in aid of the ISPCC and and Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland.

Here are the results from the two ANI-Morph workshops!

The Animation Art Show is open for viewing on Saturday the 16th of April , with Auction on Sunday the 17th, at the Ark Children’s Museum in Temple Bar, Dublin City!

The Ark Event Guide Commission

We were recently asked to put together some illustration concepts for The Ark‘s upcoming event guide.

The main thrust was to create an image which showed stages in an action, or animation.
Here is what we cooked up for them:

Our first workshop is being hosted by PP’s Pádraig at the Ark as part of the Animation Art Show, with a more in depth series of workshops beginning in June and continuing into August which you can check out HERE, HERE, & HERE

FREE ANIMATION WORKSHOP IN NEW ROSS WEXFORD!

We’re hosting a FREE STOP MOTION ANIMATION COURSE in St. Michael’s Theatre, New Ross, Co. Wexford on Saturdays 10th, 17th and 24th October, from 11 to 4.30 each day. Participants will design, storyboard and animate a short film using stop-motion animation techniques during this course.

Above is our last collaboration with the County Wexford Youth Film Project created by participants during last April’s Wexford Widescreen Youth Film Festival 2015.
County Wexford Youth Film Project is funded by the Arts Department of Wexford County Council and The Arts Council, in partnership with St. Michael’s Theatre and there are no fees involved for the young people taking part. Each year, films from the project receive their premiere at Wexford Widescreen Youth Film Festival in St. Michael’s Theatre and project films have also been screened at international film festivals and on television.

This free course is open to teenagers from across County Wexford, however places are limited and anyone interested in taking part can book in advance by emailing wexfordyouthfilm@gmail.com or calling St. Michael’s Theatre on 051 421255.

New Workshop Option: Puppet Building

We’ve added an additional workshop option: Miniature Puppet Building!

Design and build miniature figures, using a wire skeleton armature, masking tape, and stuffing!

It’s usual duration is 60 minutes, with a group size of between 10-25 students, and suitable for ages 10+

Bonfire wins at 11th Beijing Film Festival for Youth Welfare!

We are very grateful for the beautiful plaque and presentation certificate, and we’re sure the school will have it proudly on display soon enough!
Bonfire was produced in cooperation with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and the 6th class of Rathmichael Primary School in October 2013. It has screened at numerous international festivals, and will also be screening at the upcoming Kratka Forma film festival in Serbia alongside its partner in crime Kung Fu Badger.
Many thanks again to Ciarda and the FreshFilmFestival crew for their invaluable festival wrangling!

Chester Beatty Library Phenakistoscopes!

We have finished compiling the footage from the recent Chester Beatty Library animation workshops.

Life Drawing @ A4 Sounds Studios

6 Week Course: €50 (1 free class!)
This 6 week course aims to rid your arms of cobwebs and flex up some serious observational muscle!
The first half of each class will involve a lot of short poses, working on speed and energy in your drawing, incorporating resistance exercises to improve observation and drawing ability, such as gesture, blind, bamboo-stick and wrong-handed drawing. In the second half of each class you will have free reign to apply what you have learned over 2-3 longer poses. We will be using a number of different media, such as charcoal, pastels and ink. Book HERE

 

12 Week Course: €100 (2 free classes!)
This 12 week course will build mass and add definition in those hard to reach areas, such as drawing dimensionally, and creating atmosphere with tone and colour!
The first half of each class will involve a lot of short poses, working on speed and energy in your drawing, incorporating resistance exercises to improve observation and drawing ability, such as gesture, blind, bamboo-stick, negative-space and wrong-handed drawing. In the second half of each class you will have free reign to apply what you have learned over 2-3 longer poses. International Tiger Day

July 29th is International Tiger Day!
In solidarity with our Panthera Tigris brother here is our environmentally themed workshop film Rumble Outside the Jungle, featuring  a tiger struggling to restore balance to the environment

Produced in co-operation with the PURE Project during a weeklong animation summer school in Tinahely,
Co. WIcklow.
