The first half of each class will involve a lot of short poses, working on speed and energy in your drawing, incorporating resistance exercises to improve observation and drawing ability, such as gesture, blind, bamboo-stick and wrong-handed drawing. In this spooktacular workshop, children will be introduced to the dark art of hand drawn animation. They will design an unassuming character, and then transform it into a fantastical monster over the course of 5-8 drawings. They’ll also create some animation in a flipbook which they can bring home.

Claymation Horror Film Workshop!

37955-36b4beb84f964267b348e20b9fb453f2

Participants will work in groups to create spine tingling scenes of animated horror, limited only by their own squeamishness. This workshop will no doubt be suited to animation enthusiasts of an unwholesome disposition. Paper Panther’s workshop facilitators hope that through engaging with the craft of plasticine animation, they might once again become moral and upright members of society.

Not for the fainthearted.

The Ark Event Guide Commission

We were recently asked to put together some illustration concepts for The Ark‘s upcoming event guide.

The main thrust was to create an image which showed stages in an action, or animation.
Here is what we cooked up for them:
